ABOUT US
The sisterhood of Chi Sigma Alpha is an Asian-American interest, not Asian exclusive sorority founded on September 25, 2002 at the University of Washington by a group of nine strong women. The name, Chi Sigma Alpha, was chosen by its founding sisters to represent the following pillars: Character, Service, and Academics.
Chi Sigma Alpha was founded in view of the fact that there was a need for diversity in the Greek system. Our organization promotes awareness and a greater understanding of Asian-American culture. We, the sisters of Chi Sigma Alpha, strive to become positive role models for our local communities as well as create a network of strong women across college campuses internationally.
CHARACTER
Chi Sigma Alpha seeks to unite women across college campuses internationally. This unity is achieved through the most important pillar of the sorority - sisterhood. Sisterhood is a unifying bond among women who through overcoming challenges and adversities learn to love and accept each other as family. We hope to provide women with guidance in order to make decisions that will benefit them the most. We believe in the importance of learning to not only accept, but to also appreciate the diversity of the people that surround us. We promote sisterhood amongst the sisters that will last a lifetime and with women in the community.
SERVICE
Service to the community is another essential part of our organization. All chapters share a common affiliation with our national philanthropy - The Make-a-Wish Foundation®. A second, local philanthropy is chosen at each chapter’s discretion. We devote our time to the community with a focus on children as well as maintaining a presence in our local Asian American communities. Chi Sigma Alpha finds a number of ways to give back each year.
ACADEMICS
Success in academics is also extremely important to the sisters of our sorority. We hope to encourage and challenge active sisters to pursue academic excellence in their college careers. This is achieved through academic workshops as well as guidance and aid from sister to sister.
